Three Miles, Two canoes and One Roof!
Last Saturday Olivia and Zanna embarked on a three mile sponsored canoe down the Thames. They had trained for it and were determined to complete this challenge as they wanted to help to build a roof for El-Shaddai's new classrooms. This initiative began three years ago when a teacher at Cumnor Primary School, Cathie Jones, visited Uganda and saw the over-crowding in some of the schools. Her concern soon became that of the whole school and now spontaneous fund-raising activities bubble up amongst the pupils.
The two girls, aged nine, pushed through on a windy day in Oxfordshire. They were supported by family in a following boat and greeted by cheering friends as they approached the final leg. Tired and shivering, they jumped in the river to celebrate! We are so proud of their huge efforts which have resulted in a THIRD of the roof being built. Well done, girls.
