What was Helping Hands in Uganda doing in Kenya you might ask? Well, we want to continue to learn from others so as to do as good a job as we can and so we linked up with the Catch the Fire team from Iceland to work together in the Nairobi slums with ABC Kenya (a project that rescues street kids and homes and schools them). It was really helpful to be part of a team and although I was participating I was also able to stand back and reflect on what was happening - quite rare for me in Uganda! It was good to see how visitors were involved in the work and how room was made for God's activity in very hard individual stories such as Faith, a widower with five children who lived in one tiny room with no water, electricity or toilets nearby.

Jenny and I also got to personally deliver a designated food aid gift to two communities in the Northern Turkana area. This gift came from a group of Oxfordshire ladies and lots of our young Ugandan friends who shared their lunch money to bless others. It was a wonderful trip and there are certainly open doors for us to return and to be able to bless many either practically or by sharing our own experience to strengthen others.
