This week we want to just bless him and the children in his care, several of whom are orphaned. Rashid has dreams of providing care for children who are neglected by relatives who do not want them after their parents have died from AIDS. Last term he put on a fund-raising event to get some funds to practically help some of the boys and girls. We can join him and pray for God to make his dreams an increasing reality.
The little boy with Rashid has struggled in the last year as his mother died of AIDS and his father was thrown in prison for stealing coffee beans from someone's field. This left Brian in the care of his drunken grandmother who herself had lost all hope and found comfort in a local brew. Rashid became aware of the situation as Brian was often left alone in his house and began to suffer from jiggers, parasitic fleas that burrow into feet to lay eggs. I have not shown a picture of his feet as they were so hard to look at but his hands are infected too though only mildly. This is very painful, leads to secondary infections and affects walking as things deteriorate. Ignorance, poverty and walking barefoot are all factors in this disease. It can spread in areas unless tackled and we can ask our team to investigate further. Can we pray for this young lad this week and ask God to give Rashid wisdom on the next steps in caring for these children? If you'd like to help practically you can do so online or give £10 by texting HAND10£10 to 70070 - you'll even get a link allowing you to gift aid it thanks to Vodafone. Thank you.
