Thrilled as we are that the rains have come to Uganda, we are aware that they were late and that this means the harvest will be delayed. Janepher has already told us of how many families have had to spend their "school fees" money on food that they should have grown themselves (these fees are not for fancy schools but for the local school where classes are under 100). The whole team is now on red alert for signs of malnourishment in individual children.
The good news is that we have started a "feeding pot" thanks to a gift from a family last week. This means that we can hand out bags of maize, beans and oil to vulnerable families as we come across them. In this way we can respond immediately to the needs when they present themselves. If you would like to add to this pot can you do so online or by cheque.
